well yes, contact the school, school taxes have never been higher, and the schools provide far less than they ever have before, and they also require much more than ever before, they wait to send out what is needed for school until the prices in the local stores have escalated.... when they should give the list to the children as they graduate to the next grade just as summer begins, that way people could take advantage of the sales going on during summer when business for those items is at a stand still. I think calling the school and asking them what they suggest and also giving them that idea might be useful hey you never know, its worth a try.

Hello, My name is Barbara Tijerina.  This year I am prayerfull that our church The LORD'S Vineyard International is able to provide school supplies with backpacks, a pair of tennis shoes and a newoutfit for the first day of the 2008/2009 school year to some 300 - 500 children in the Montopolis area.

Heading this project has been a blessing to me.  This is the 4th year of the project.  We have been able to provide up to 200 children the much needed supplies, but I know there are so many more still in need.

Please help by donating backpacks, supplies, gift cards, or by donating the funds.

Barbara Tijerina, Back to School Blessing, The LORD'S Vineyard Internation, 434 US Highway 183 South, Austin Texas 78741

Thank you - God will honor and bless your giving.

Barbara

Below Is A letter about who we are and what we are doing thank you my name is Corey and you Can Call me At 504-609-5750 or 504-588-9318 for more info. God Bless You And Your Work !!! St. Anna’s Episcopal Church 1313 Esplanade Ave. New Orleans, LA 70116 504.947.2121 August 27, 2007 To Whom it may Concern: Once again we are approaching the start of the school year. This year St. Anna’s Episcopal Church has begun an experimental program called “St. Anna’s Youth Initiative.” Our mission is seeking donations of school supplies, uniforms, books, calculators, tutoring devices, etc. To distribute to needy young students. In addition to educating students, the program aims to get young teens off the streets and into positive church youth programs and community activities. This program is funded largely by the Diocese of Louisiana. With the cooperation of Sylvan Learning Centers, St. Anna’s has arranged to have these children tutored in an accelerated program aimed at bringing them up to grade level. Many families within our community lack the financial ability to obtain these crucial school items. But you can help by either donating materials or funds to support this program. Thank you for you time and consideration. Without your support “St. Anna’s Youth Initiative” would not be possible. Please call at 504-609 5750 . Best regards, St. Anna’s Youth Initiative

Free School Supplies For Low Income Children PDF Print E-mail Written by Laryl Noble Tuesday, 14 August 2007 For some families the start of a new school year is a difficult and expensive situation. One local organization is pulling out all of the stops to help. Medford's St. Vincent de Paul is pitching in to help local needy families start the school year off right. From pens and paper, to glue and scissors St. Vincent de Paul is brimming with school supplies. Through Friday of this week volunteers are expecting to hand out two-thousand bags of supplies for kids in grades K-12. Spokesperson Bob Christian, of St. Vincent de Paul says it is a thrill to be part of the process. "This is a good feeling to see these children (with) sparkles in the eyes when they look in these bags and see items that they've never had before." The school supplies are purchased with donated money from individuals and corporations in the community. Most of the school supplies are purchased at Bi-Mart where St. Vincent de Paul receives a generous discount to help stretch the money. The supplies are available to low-income families through Friday.Parents wanting to participate are asked to bring their child's social security number with them.
